A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE PORTAGE HOUSING IV HOUSING CREDIT PROGRAM PROPOSED BY THE COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TO CONSTRUCT UP TO 30 NEW HOMES THROUGHOUT PORTAGE COUNTY, TO HELP REBUILD AREAS IN NEED OF REVITALIZATION, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, there is a need in Village of Windham, and Portage County for affordable housing; and

WHEREAS, there is a need for additional employment opportunities as a result of construction activities; and,

WHEREAS, the Village of Windham is desirous to support such activities.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Village of Windham Council, Portage County, Ohio:

SECTION I: That Village of Windham Council supports the Portage Housing IV housing credit program proposed by Community & Economic Development Corporation to construct up to 30 new single family, lease purchase homes, throughout Portage County, with 100% set-aside for low-income families. This project will not target any additional special needs.

SECTION II: It is hereby found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal actions were in meetings open to the public compliance with Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION III: That this Resolution is hereby declared an emergency measure and shall take effect immediately upon passage and approval by Village Council for the reason that it is necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Village of Windham, Ohio and for the additional reason that the grant application deadline is March 16, 2006.
